Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 26th, 2025
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how PayWhirl Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use Subscription Finder within the Shopify Shop app (the “Mini” or the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. This document is general informational content and is not legal advice.
2. Shop Mini Disclosures
Subscription Finder operates inside the Shopify Shop app as a Shop Mini. Consistent with Shop Minis guidelines:
-
We only request scopes needed to support the Mini’s subscription-discovery features
(currently including
product_list:write). - We do not receive your Shop account credentials, payment method details, or full shopping history.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or tracking pixels within the Mini.
- Any information we handle is used only to deliver features you request (for example, showing subscription products or saving items in your Shop saved list).
If our scope usage or data practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy.
3. Information We Handle
Subscription Finder is designed to work with minimal user data and without creating separate user accounts.
3.1 Data from Your Use of the Mini
When you interact with the Mini, we may process:
- Search and filter inputs (e.g., categories, keywords, and preferences you choose while using the Mini).
- In-Mini actions, such as which subscription products you tap to view or save/unsave (this is typically handled via Shop’s own product list and saved-product features).
We use this information in real time to show you relevant subscription products and, where supported, to update your Shop saved items. We do not create a separate profile of you outside of the Shop app.
We do not intentionally collect or store:
- Your name, email address, or postal address (unless you contact us directly).
- Your payment card numbers or full order history.
3.2 Product and Catalog Data
To function, the Mini accesses product and catalog data from Shopify’s ecosystem, including information such as:
- Product titles, images, descriptions, prices, and subscription options.
- Merchant-provided metadata about whether a product supports subscriptions.
This data comes from merchants and Shopify and is not personal information about you.
3.3 Direct Communications
If you contact us (for example, by emailing team@paywhirl.com):
- We will receive the information you choose to send (such as your name, email, and message content).
- We use this information only to respond to your inquiry and maintain basic support records.
3.4 Technical Logs
Like most online services, our infrastructure or hosting providers may automatically collect limited technical information, such as:
- IP address, device type, or browser/app version;
- Dates and times of requests;
- Error logs and performance metrics.
We use this to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service. We do not use these logs to build marketing profiles or to track you across unrelated services.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described above solely to:
- Run the Service and show relevant subscription products within the Shop app.
- Allow you to save or unsave products via Shop’s product list functionality (where available).
- Maintain and improve the performance, reliability, and security of the Mini.
- Respond to support requests or questions you send us.
We do not:
- Sell or rent your personal information.
- Use your data for targeted ads.
- Build standalone consumer profiles outside of the Shop ecosystem.
5. Legal Bases (Where Applicable)
In jurisdictions that require a legal basis for processing (such as the EEA or UK), we generally rely on:
- Performance of a contract – to provide the Service you request when you open and use the Mini.
- Legitimate interests – to keep the Service secure, respond to your messages, and fix bugs, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share information in these limited situations:
6.1 With Shopify / Shop app
The Mini runs within the Shop app and uses Shopify’s SDK and infrastructure. Information necessary to provide the Mini’s functionality (such as which product you choose to save) may be shared with Shopify as part of normal operation. Your use of Shop is also governed by Shopify’s own terms and privacy policies.
6.2 Service Providers
We may use third-party hosting, logging, or error-monitoring providers. These providers may process technical data on our behalf solely to operate and support the Service and are required to handle it securely.
6.3 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is required to:
- Comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request;
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of PayWhirl Inc., our users, or the public.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it with third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
7. Data Retention
- We aim to keep data only for as long as needed to operate the Service, resolve issues, and meet legal obligations.
- In-Mini interactions (like search queries) are generally processed in real time and not stored in a way that identifies you as an individual user.
- Support emails or similar communications may be retained for a reasonable period to help us track and respond to ongoing issues, and then deleted or anonymized.
If you are in a region where you have specific rights to deletion or access, see Section 9.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect information we hold, such as:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) where supported by the Shop app and our hosting providers.
- Access controls limiting which personnel or systems can interact with operational data.
- Monitoring for unusual or abusive behavior.
However, no online system can be guaranteed 100% secure, and you use the Service at your own risk.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights such as:
- Access to personal information we hold about you.
- Correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Deletion of certain personal information.
- Objection to or restriction of certain types of processing.
Because Subscription Finder does not create separate user accounts or store typical profile data, there may be limited information we can associate with you. If you contact us about your data rights, we will do our best to honor your request where required by law.
You can also:
- Stop using the Mini at any time, which will end further in-Mini data processing.
- Contact us at team@paywhirl.com with privacy questions or requests.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for general audiences and is designed to be used by individuals who are permitted to use the Shop app under Shopify’s terms.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age where parental consent is required in their jurisdiction (such as 13 in some regions). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can evaluate and, if appropriate, delete that information.
11. International Transfers
If we process information in countries other than your own, we will do so in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and will take steps intended to ensure an appropriate level of protection, as required by applicable law.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top. Where appropriate, we may highlight material changes within the Mini or via other reasonable means.
If you continue using the Service after changes take effect, you are agreeing to the updated Privacy Policy.
